Research and Ethics Policy

Research is central to ACSTD’s mission. We believe that knowledge must be produced responsibly, with full respect for participants and communities.

Our research ethics are built on the following principles:

Informed consent: All participants must understand the purpose of the research, what is expected, and how the information will be used, and must agree freely.

Confidentiality: Sensitive information and identities will be protected, especially in conflict or high-risk environments.

Do no harm: Our research design and implementation prioritize the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of participants.

Transparency: We communicate our methods and findings honestly, acknowledging limitations and avoiding misrepresentation.

Respect for local voices: Afghan perspectives, narratives, and lived realities are at the center of our research.

This policy ensures that ACSTD’s research not only meets international ethical standards but also reflects our commitment to empowering Afghan communities through responsible knowledge and practice.
